Ituner releases patch that fixes problems with RealSystem Producer 8.
During regular Quality Assurance testing for RealSystem Producer 8, Real Networks detected an issue when starting live broadcasting sessions after January 31, 2001 in RealSystem Producer 8 and RealPresenter 8.
After January 31, 2001, live broadcasting sessions started in RealSystem Producer 8 and RealPresenter 8 will display a message box that says "A General Error Occurred."
Realizing that this problem could affect hundreds of MediaBox users, Ituner quickly provided the patch that fixed the bug.
"We were glad we found out in time about this bug, said Andrei Bulucea, chief developer for the MediaBox. Our engineers worked fast and we were able to limit the damages that this problem could have incurred to our customers. In 48 hours the problem was fixed and all the MediaBox users were sent the instructions on how to fix the problem. Some customers preferred to give us access to their boxes and we installed the patch ourselves. We were able to do that because the MediaBox is a Web Based Administration application. All commands to the MediaBox are issued through an easy to use web interface, either locally through a LAN or remotely through a WAN".
The MediaBox is a real-time network-encoding appliance capable of multicast or unicast streaming of high quality video and audio through broadband
networks at bitrates ranging from 28.8Kbps to 1Mbps. The MediaBox enables broadcasters, production studios, ISPs, corporations and individuals to encode, serve and automate live and on-demand video and audio over the Internet (or intranet) in a matter of minutes.
